How to Manscape - Steps for Shaving Pubes
Whatever reason you choose, here are six of our best tips for shaving down there.
Step 1: Start with a Shower
Pubes are usually more coarse than other body hair, so taking a shower or bath first will help soften the hairs and avoid nicks and pulls. Around 5 minutes should do it.
Cleaning your shaving tools will help prevent bacteria and bad stuff from getting in your hair glands, causing razor bumps.
Step 2: Trim Before You Shave
To help you get to those hard-to-reach areas, start by trimming your pubic hair. Use a fixed comb length on your razor to tackle areas that haven’t been shaved before. Our Gillette All Purpose Styler comes with three comb attachments (2mm, 4mm, and 6mm), and it’s waterproof so you can use it in the shower.
Step 3: Use a Sensitive Shaving Gel
Because this area is so sensitive, picking the right shaving products is essential. Always choose a shaving gel that’s meant for sensitive skin, like the Series Moisturizing Shave Gel.
Step 4: Shave Carefully
First, double check your equipment to make sure you’ve got a clean and sharp razor that you don’t use for any other manscaping. The Fusion5 blades, will do the job.
Next, create an even surface to shave by pulling your groin skin taut with one hand and guiding your razor with the other. Use light, gentle strokes and you’ll hardly feel a thing.
Keep reapplying your shaving gel as you go, so your pubes stay easy to cut through.
Step 5: Rinse Your Blades Often
Every few strokes, rinse your blades under some running water. Make sure the back and front sides of the blades are clean, and then shake any extra water off. This gets rid of built-up shaving gel, hair, and dead skin. Don’t risk damaging your razor by tapping it against the sink or wiping it on a towel.
Step 6: Moisturize and Recover
After you’re done shaving go for some aftercare. Wash away any leftover hair followed by a moisturizer all over the area. Give yourself at least a few days before shaving down here again so your skin has plenty of time to recover.
Now you know how to shave your pubes. If you need some new gear for your next shave, check out Gillette razors and trimmers.
